How To Treat Scabies With Lemon Juice
The lemon fruit which is from a citrus plant provides an important liquid called lemon juice when squeezed. The juice either in its natural strength or concentrated is sold as a bottled product with preservatives and sometimes lemon oil added. It can be used as a natural home remedy for treating scabies.
Scabies is the worst itchy skin ailment caused by a tiny mite called Sarcoptes scabiei which settles on the skin and develops intense reaction as the body reacts with its saliva. The infection can be transmitted from contaminated objects but its most often transmitted by direct skin to skin contact with a higher risk if the contact is prolonged. The initial infections require about 4 to 6 weeks to manifest the first symptoms; however re-infection may manifest symptoms with as little time as 24 hours. A more severe and serious infection which is associated with immunosuppression is called crusted scabies formerly known as Norwegian scabies.
Its signs and symptoms include: Itching: it is worsened by warm and it’s more serious at night, because this is the time that the mites feed, as an allergic reaction with the mites’ saliva. Rash: the burrows of these mites usually appear at the wrists, feet hands, buttocks, elbows and external genitals. The burrows are created by the excavation of the adult mites in the epidermis. The series of these burrows appear in linear or s-shaped tracks in the skin.
The disease can be treated using natural remedies and lemon juice is one of them. Prepare lemon juice and a paste of turmeric powder. Take a little amount of it orally and apply topically on the affected skin areas and leave for one hour. Take a shower or a bath after this and repeat this procedure daily until you realize the symptoms of scabies have stopped.
The following is another procedure that uses lemon juice in the treatment of scabies infection. Ingredients: 2, 1/2 cups of sugar, 4 teaspoons lemon juice, 1/2 cup sweet almond oil, 4 tablespoons runny honey, and 4 drops lemon essential oil.
Procedure: Combine the sweet almond oil and the sugar in a large bowl and stir the mixture well. Add the lemon juice and stir again. Finally, add the honey and lemon essential oil and stir again to mix and obtain a grainy paste. To use, massage your body, extremities first, in circular motions to exfoliate and cleanse. After this clean your body by taking a shower or bathing to get rid of excess oil and after this your skin and body should feel relaxed and the body itching reduced.
The use of lemon is very easy because the fruit is available locally and also the preparation of the appropriate mixtures is easy.
